A Missioning We Will Go.....

After some thought and encouragement from some superior authorities, I am going to pursue a short-term mission trip this upcoming summer. I am working with many contacts. They are:

1. Teaching English to Seminary Students - India
2. Medical Mission - Haiti
3. Various Missions Work - Belize

All of these mission opportunities are unique in itself. The tough choice is to figure out which one I should do. Do I go with the longest one of three weeks (India) or do I do a medical mission that fits with my degree that I will be graduating with in a couple of months? Many questions to ponder but I want to start filling applications very soon!!

Serving the Lord

I recently went on a mission trip to Panama (the country - not part of Florida). I had the wonderful experience of painting churches and being a part of bible studies and ESL classes. not only was it neat to see the spirit moving through us - but also the Panamanians that we were helping out.

Of course it was not a smooth transition from our first destination of Chicago to our final destination of Panama. On Saturday (3/14/09) we headed to Chicago for our flight. Got to Chicago and it was announced that our plane would be delayed - for three hours. Due to this delay, it made us miss our connecting flight in Atlanta. Finally arrived in Atlanta and stayed over night in a hotel (I traveled with a group of 9 people). On Sunday we went back to the airport and realized 2 out of 9 were confirmed for the flight out to Panama. So needless to say, 2 out of the 9 were on their way to Panama while the 7 of us were stuck in Atlanta again. By the time Monday rolls around, everybody is just really tired of Atlanta and ready to move on to our original destination. On Monday night, the 7 of us still left finally boarded our plane to Panama. Once landing in Panama, we quickly discovered that our luggage was missing and that we wouldn't have access to it until Wednesday when the next flight would come in. Luckily, our luggage came a day early (Tuesday), but it was still aggravating because the 7 of us had the same clothes on for the past 4 days.

Reflecting through this mission trip has made me wonder how much I really like missioning. This is my second mission trip and each trip made me realize how much I like to reach out to countries and help them with their struggling religious issues. The song Should I Stay or Should I Go has been popping up for me quite often. Do I want to take missioning seriously and pursue it as a career or should I just participate in as many mission trips as possible?
